About Cares Garage
Neil Oakley served his apprenticeship at The Wadhurst Motor Co Volvo in 1988. He joined Cares in 1993 and after that was employed by Joes Garage in Wadhurst in 1997 where he repaired and serviced a wide range of vehicles from classics to new. Neil was later promoted to workshop manager.
In 2000 he joined Maidstone Sports Cars as a technician, specialising in British Sport cars, both new and rally+race.
He carried out full and part restoration to vehicles such as Jaguar, E-Type, S-Type 2.5 V8, XJS-C, XJS, XK 120-/140, Triumph TR2, 3, 4, 4A, 5 and 6, MG, J2 (supercharge)/B, C, V8, Lotus Elan, Elan+2, Esprit, Esprit V8.
Neil Oakley also has experience in the following:
Rally and Track
Rally preparation for Triumph TR4, MGB, MGC;
Track Day Preparation for: 4.2 S1 E-Type, Brakes suspension, roll bars, wheels, tyres;
Lotus Europa/Elise.
Modifications
Sunbeam Tiger: 302 ci engine, 5 speed gearbox, 5 link rear suspension;
Triumph TR3 flip front in steel;
Triumph chassis strengthening, including rear diff mounts;
MGJ-2 supercharger including PB brakes;
MG V8 automatic gearbox conversion;
Europa rear suspension improvements;
5 speed conversions to Elan, Midget, Tiger, E-Type, MGA, MGB, MGC;
Various brake/suspension and performance modifications.
